Final Comments

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the class. The topic itself, "Psychology of Social Media," was what grabbed my attention in the first place. It seemed and was an interesting topic. I loved that your teaching style involved many examples of videos and blogs and wished more professors would implement that into their lectures. A lot of teachers will just lecture on and on and have just words up on their PowerPoint which loses a lot of peoples’ attention. So the videos and examples were a nice way to keep the lecture interesting and refreshing. I also enjoyed that you included a lot of class discussion in your course where you interacted with us, challenged us, and had us interact and discuss with each other as well instead of just lecturing the entire time. This was a nice change of pace and allowed us to hear other peoples’ opinions and perspectives and also let us voice our own opinions. One thing I didn’t enjoy were the books that you selected for us to read. I can honest...

Crowdsourcing

The definition of "crowdsourcing" by Merriam-Webster Dictionary is “the practice of obtaining needed services, ideas, or content by soliciting contributions from a large group of people and especially from the online community rather than from traditional employees or suppliers” It doesn’t necessarily have to be an online community; it can just be a community in general or a large sample of people. The average from the crowd’s guesses turned out to be one number off from the actual weight of the cow. That is astonishing but I think it could have been luck. One thing that I wish they did was replicate this same experiment at different cities or with a different crowd of people and see if the results would be similar.    I do believe that the concept behind crowdsourcing works and is accurate the majority of the time. This is evide...

How should you discipline your children?

I am not expecting to have children anytime soon, but I have thought about how I will discipline my children in the future. Coming from an Asian family, we were always discipline by this "thorn-like, bush" whip and it was very efficient. I, however; also grew up immersed in American culture so I know and have witnessed many of the tactics that American families have used to discipline their children. To be completely honest, I do not believe that there is one fool-proof way to discipline children. Each child is different and will respond differently to each disciplinary tactic or method. I have said this before in my application for medical school, "communication is key. Good communication could be the solution to any problem while bad communication could be the source of all your problems." Communication is an invaluable skill that a physician must utilize in order for their patients to feel comfortable, relaxed, and to get the patients to trust and open up t...
