Final Blog

It was pretty easy to integrate Instagram into our presentation since Instagram is a visual social media platform. I can't take any of the credit though because Briana is the one who(one of the members in our group) came up with the idea of taking screenshots of our Powerpoint presentation and uploading them onto Instagram.

It was easy to click on links or hashtags since we were already on on the site. The only real problem we encountered was that the text was too small to read even on a projector but this problem was easily resolved by using the zoom in feature on the computer.

Because of the visual nature of Instagram, we did not experience a lot of difficulities in using it for our presentation. It essentially worked the same as Powerpoint which is what our presentation was initially on. Overall, I really thought Instagram was the easiest social media platform to incorperate into a presentation. It was fairly easy to use especially with the screenshot option that Mac computers have and most of us were farmiliar with Instagram which made it easier.

Selfies, the New Measuring Stick for Narcissism and Psychopathy?

After looking over week 8's reading materials and articles, I was in shock. I had always knew social media websites such as Instagram and Twitter were used to gain attention to the user, but I would have never associated it with narcissism and psychopathy. However, after pondering over the articles, it does make a lot of sense. Narcissism is characterized by "extreme self-centernessed and a grandiose view of oneself." Given the very nature of Twitter and Instagram with its functions of liking, retweeting, commenting, etc, it is the perfect tool to feed narcissism. Facebook: Here to Stay or On its Way Out?

The in-class debate we had about the future of Facebook was very enlightening. It was very interesting to see both sides of the debate and some people brought up excellent points. For me personally, it is hard to imagine that Facebook is here to stay. Everything has an expiration date and Facebook is no exception. Something new and better will eventually come along. Although Facebook's popularity is still trending upwards and may do so for awhile, other social meida sites like Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat are trending upwards as well. You brought up an excellent point when you said pencil and paper had been around for thousands of years but we see today, that while it is nowhere near on its way out, other methods of writing are emerging such as tablets or even computers. I know many people who take notes on their tables and it is more efficient than rather note-taking.
