What Would Happen If the Internet Stopped Working?

If the internet ever stopped working completely, I think the world would be chaotic and the people in it would be lost. We have relied so heavily on the internet and technology in general that it has become part of our culture, our society, and our identity. We are so acustomed to having internet and always being connected that to lose it would be devastating. Personally, I think we would just be more bored. I watch movies, tv shows, play video games, check social media to stay entertained. That is what I like to do on my free time and if you take away the internet, that would mean I would have a lot more free time but to do what? That is the ultimate question. It isn't so much that we couldn't survive if there was no internet; I believe mankind is very adaptable. It has to do with what else is there to do without internet. 

Over the most recent summer, I took a trip with my family to backpack throughout China. I usually go back to China every summer to my hometown (which is very small) and catch up with family an friends but I had never explored the country. I had never gone to the Great Wall or been to the major cities like Beijing and Shanghi. So we decided to go since I had just completed the MCAT. China is very strict about social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, basically all the popular ones and the ones I use. Also the internet/wifi was very laggy over there since I had AT&T. So I was unable to connect with my friends except when we were back at the hotel and I wasn't on my phone much but it was the best trip I had ever been on. Being off my phone allowed me to connect with my family more, allowed to really take in the experience, culture, and sights of my trip, and let me enjoy myself. 

But I was constantly doing something exciting and adventurous. That simply just doesn't happen in our day to day lives. That is why I think we would eventually adapt to a world without internet; we would just be extremely bored.

How should you discipline your children?

I am not expecting to have children anytime soon, but I have thought about how I will discipline my children in the future. Coming from an Asian family, we were always discipline by this "thorn-like, bush" whip and it was very efficient. I, however; also grew up immersed in American culture so I know and have witnessed many of the tactics that American families have used to discipline their children. To be completely honest, I do not believe that there is one fool-proof way to discipline children. Each child is different and will respond differently to each disciplinary tactic or method. Final Blog

It was pretty easy to integrate Instagram into our presentation since Instagram is a visual social media platform. I can't take any of the credit though because Briana is the one who(one of the members in our group) came up with the idea of taking screenshots of our Powerpoint presentation and uploading them onto Instagram. It was easy to click on links or hashtags since we were already on on the site. The only real problem we encountered was that the text was too small to read even on a projector but this problem was easily resolved by using the zoom in feature on the computer. Because of the visual nature of Instagram, we did not experience a lot of difficulities in using it for our presentation. It essentially worked the same as Powerpoint which is what our presentation was initially on.
